Parent Classes

If you are the parent of a student in one of our Pre-Twinkle classes, please note that there are no group classes for the children for the first 4 weeks of the Fall (students will have their private lessons during this time).  These weeks are dedicated to special parent-only classes. Pre-Twinkle parents are required to attend, however ALL parents are welcome and invited- not just parents of little ones.  These classes will equip you with  tools and tips to help cultivate a positive and productive environment and promote success in your Suzuki journey at home.  These classes will be offered during your child’s group class time, however in response to some stated needs, we also offer these classes at alternate times that are easier for parents to attend without children.

These are non-instrument specific talks, each with a different theme. These are stand-alone topics; please feel free to attend any topics that speak to you.

  • Saturday, Sept. 14 at 4:15
“Nurturing our Children with Love” What does it mean to “nurture our children with love” through the study of music? What are our ultimate goals here, and how do we assess if the methods we are using are the best for our child? Many references will be used here and shared including “Unconditional Parenting” by Alfie Kohn, “Drive” by Daniel Pink, “Self-Reg…” by Dr. Stuart Shanker, and “Discipline with Love and Logic” and other “Love and Logic” books by Foster Cline and Jim Fay.
  • Saturday, Sept. 28 at 4:15
“Global Intuitive Learners 2.0” What are some of the differences between global intuitive learners versus logical linear learners? Learn new ways to work with your dreamy kids. Let’s get a little backwards in a problem solving.
  • Saturday, Oct. 19 at 4:15
Modeling for Life: Holding on to the concept that parents are a child’s first teachers, what other traits are we (parents) hoping to impart or model for our children through this Suzuki Journey. Applied Positive Psychology, Non-Complementary Behavior concepts will also be discussed.
