Ruth Klukoff, Violin

Ruth Klukoff, violin

Ruth began her violin studies at age 5 with Betty Flowers Gross, while growing up in Alabama.  In middle school, she began studying privately with Marianne Roy and spent her summers at Sewanee Summer Music Festival.  She received her Bachelor’s degree in Violin Performance from Indiana University, where she studied with Paul Biss and James Buswell.  Two summers at Meadowmount, studying with Sally Thomas changed her life!

Ruth comes to GSA after 13 years of teaching and performing in St. Petersburg, FL.  As a freelance violinist, she performed with Opera Tampa and the Florimezzo Orchestra/Opera Orchestra.  While developing and maintaining a private Suzuki Studio, she also served as sectional coach for the Pinellas Youth Symphony, and adjunct Violin faculty for Eckerd College, Pinellas County Center for the Arts and International Studies at Gibbs High School, and Perkins Elementary School for the Arts, where she taught all 1st and 2nd graders in their Suzuki Violin program.  In 2004, she founded a Suzuki Violin program at Gulfwinds Montessori School, and in 2009 became the director for Summer Strings Violin Camp, serving students from the greater Tampa Bay region. In the summers of 2012 and 2013, Ruth had the privilege of teaching amongst a world class faculty at the Florida Suzuki Institute!

Ruth’s Suzuki teacher training began in 2002 with Julia Hardie!  In the years following, she continued training at summer institutes with Ronda Cole, Edmund Sprunger, Ed Kreitman, and Barbara Barber.  Most recently, she has completed the long-term Suzuki Teacher training course at the School for Strings with Allen Lieb and Katherine Gerson.

Ruth is thrilled to join the faculty at Greenwich Suzuki Academy!
